Marketing's vaguest word shapes 20-30% of your success

author: Susanne Haug

Content as a success factor

Ask five people what content is and you'll get five different answers. No wonder: the word has long become a catch-all for anything a brand puts out. And what can't be clearly defined is easily underestimated. Yet in our projects we see it time and again: the right content accounts for around a third of a project's success. High time to bring a blurry term into focus.

So it's worth taking a closer look at what actually belongs to it. Because only once you sharpen the term do you see its value. Content is far more than the text on a page. It covers everything that makes a brand digitally visible, understandable and discoverable. From the image to the invisible layer behind it.

What is content?

  • Text

STRUCTURE

Why tech and content are inseparable

There's a reason it's us talking about content. We think in structures, systems and measurable results. And that's exactly what content needs. Because a vague term doesn't need another creative interpretation, it needs clarity. We treat content with the same precision as everything we build, which makes it measurable. And we see what happens at the interface every day: we build the website your content ultimately runs on. When a technically perfect site meets weak content, a large part of the impact is lost. In our projects, that's often 20 to 30 percent of the success.

Where the decision is made

Content plays a role in a project that no other element can replace. Tech and design bring people to your site and make sure everything works. But a fast loading time alone won't convince anyone. People are won over by the content. And that's how a visit can turn into an enquiry.

GEO

When it's not only people reading your content

For a long time the rule was simple: good content is read by people and found by search engines. That still holds true. But a new layer has been added. Because more and more often, AI systems answer questions directly. Those who appear in these answers get seen. Those who don't, don't. This is exactly where Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) comes in. It makes sure content doesn't just rank, but is understood by AI systems and cited as a source.

KEY FACTORS TO SUCCESS

Clear page architecture 🏗️
Every page has one topic and one purpose. That helps users find their way and search engines categorise it. 🗂️
Technical performance ⚙️
Loading time, accessibility and mobile display all help decide whether content gets through at all. What loads too slowly, nobody reads. 🐌
Clean markup 🖍️
Structured data and metadata make content machine-readable. That's the basis for being found in search engines (SEO) and cited in AI answers (GEO). 🤖

pixelart Content Flow

Human in the lead, AI in the loop

We don't just produce content.
We build a content system where brand, structure and AI work together.

The pixelart Content Flow

It all starts with the brand core: voice, values and direction define what a brand stands for. The strategy builds on this, setting structure and guidelines. On this basis, people create the content and set the direction. AI supports the process in the Creation Hub, delivering variations and suggestions in next to no time. The final step comes from people again: review, refine, approve. What's learned along the way flows back into strategy and brand core.

For you, that means content is ready in days rather than weeks, and larger volumes become possible without the effort rising at the same rate.

Content isn't about the single puzzle piece. It's about the whole picture.
